COME LET US REASON TOGETHER; “THOUGH YOUR SINS!”

come now let us reason

Isaiah 1:18.

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

The Book of Isaiah is a book of restoration and reformation. God spoke through the prophet Isaiah and gave many prophecies about restoring the lost glory of His people Israel.

In verse one of this chapter, God talks about the sin of the nation of Judah. In verse eleven, God asked them: To what purpose is the multitude of their sacrifices? They are vain obligations. In vain, they worshipped God. He wasn’t really interested in their burnt offerings; their motives and intentions were totally wrong. God didn’t see it as an act of obedience.

Upon verse twelve, He asked them: Who has required these things in your hand?

It is not that God was not willing to accept their sacrifices or that He is happy rejecting His people’s offerings. But their iniquity made God unhappy with them.

Isaiah 59:1-2.

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

God is closer than we think He actually is to us; our iniquity, lifestyles, and deeds make Him stay far away.

God gave His people a new page, a blank sheet to start again. It was a new opportunity. He refused to allow them to wander and waste in their sins. God is not rejecting us; He is calling us back. He wants us to negotiate and find a perfect way, according to His standards, out of our sins and to set us free from the destructive power of sin.

God is telling us to forsake our old lives and put away that sin that so easily beset us. We should focus only on God, the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:1-2.

God is pleading with us, saying, “ Come and let us talk, reason, negotiate together: though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” God wants to chat with us, think and agree, and see reasons with us. He doesn’t want us to be entangled in the bondage of sin.

The Call To Repentance

God is saying that if you want eternal life and power that surpasses human understanding, you must begin a new walk with Christ in complete obedience to His rules and Laws.

We must cease to do evil and wash and make ourselves clean. We must learn too well. This is necessary for complete repentance and turning and whole again around.

It is not just enough if we stop living the old. It is very important that we put on the new man and learn to live a righteous life that is holy and acceptable to God.

We must continue doing well. Our motives must be right. We must practice righteous living so we can have an expected end. We must learn to do well; we must take pains to learn our duty, be inquisitive about it, care about it, and accustom ourselves to it so that we may become masters of this holy art of doing well.

We must seek judgment and justice, enquiring about what is right so that we may apply it to our everyday lives.

Finally family!

God begs us to continue to come to Him as we are, but we cannot remain as we are. He wants to wash us as white as snow!

He is saying that while our hands are stained with sin and our hearts are filled up with the guilt of the past, He is still ready to accept us if only we can be washed in the blood of Jesus.

God is giving only one simple condition: Break off your league with sin, and you will be welcomed into His covenant, and you will have fellowship and communion with Him.

Though your sins are as red as scarlet and crimson, though you are under the guilt of blood, upon your repentance, you shall be forgiven and appear in the sight of God as white as snow.

If you are willing and obedient!!!

Obedience is important to have a sweet ride with Christ. Others may be having it their own way; some may say it doesn’t matter, “ God Understands.” It is true! But God will not go against His words for your own selfish interest. He honours His words more than His name. I am happy to tell you that the devil understands as well, and there are consequences for everything we do, either good or bad.

 Let us reason together…

There are lots of goodies waiting for us; we only need to obey. If we make ourselves clean by repentance and reformation, God will make us whole by full remission. If we are obedient, the good of the land and the promises of the new covenant will be ours.

But if we rebel vs. 20!!, we will have ourselves to blame; the consequences of disobedience will come upon us.

And Now Life and Death, Good and Evil are set before us; come and let us reason together! What do you object to in complying with God’s conditions?

God bless!
