THAT I MAY KNOW HIM. Phil 3:1-20

Him

You can attend church for all your life and still not know Jesus. Your parents might have given birth to you inside the church and baptized you there; you grew up there in the church; later, you joined the choir and started singing in an Angelic manner; you joined the youth ministry, yet you don’t know who the Man of Galilee is. A preacher once preached for over 20 years and did not know Jesus.

You might have definitely heard the name Jesus, but the power in the Name might not know you.

We need to understand this… Jesus Christ warned us about the danger of professing without faith. Matthew 7:21-23.

Some people claim to know Jesus, but deep down in the type of life they live, they do not. Some confess Christ secretly but never profess Him openly.

To confess is very easy, but professing is more of a strong declaration that Jesus is Lord.

Many tale-evangelists and many mega pastors do not mention the name of Jesus anymore… they only call the name of God. Like Seriously!!! Phil 2:5-11. The vs. 9-11 says,

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Many people these days say, “ I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN; I ONLY HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.” My friend, please take a Seat! You cannot have a relationship with the Father without going through the Son. John 14:6.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.”

W

Jesus said He is the only way to the Father; knowing God means having an encounter with Jesus first. If you obey God, it means you know Jesus; this implies you are in fellowship with the Father. Having a relationship with Jesus automatically makes you a Christian. This means you are Christ-like, of course, we are not perfect, but the bible says,

“ Perfecting Holiness in the Fear of God”

As a Christian, though some claim they are not, you are called a Christian, orian because you’re “Christ-like”, you’re a Christ meaning that you do everything in the way and manner Christ did it.

Having a relationship with Christ Jesus is a must priority. In john 15:1-26, Jesus was telling His disciples about associating with Him, which was their only chance of becoming an overcomer.

Many people think theology is all about Jesus. Never! There is no searching of His understanding. Obedience is a must. If we really love God we should gladly do His will.

You have to bring forth the fruits that are associated with Jesus.

You can’t tell me you’re a Christian (though you say you’re), I agree, but please, where are your fruits?

Your association with Christ will rob you of many things, including freedom from being and acting like the world. That’s the meaning of taking up your cross and following Jesus, Matthew 16:24.

“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”

You deny yourself first, take up your cross and follow Christ. Then, you will understand Philippians 3:10-11.

“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.”

The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch, Syria. The world looked at them and saw Jesus in them. They saw the characteristics of Christ, and they saw the attributes of our Lord Jesus.

They said, “ These are the Followers of Christ.” Acts 11:21.

We need this kind of identity. The world needs to know us and see only Jesus in us, from the way we act and behave to the way we speak. Christ must be seen. There is no double life, no faking it. Jesus Only, “Jesus Ever, Jesus All.”

We need to get back to the basis. Galatians 2:20-21 talks about being crucified with Christ… Christ lives in us… the life we now live; we live only by faith in the Son of God, who loves us and gives Himself for us… this implies we must be bold to talk about Jesus.

Preach Him, Live Him, and be Proud of Him.

When the chief priest and rulers of the people threatened the disciples never to preach Christ again. Instead of staying silent, they prayed for Boldness and Preached Christ more than ever. They could do this because they have had an encounter with Jesus. Acts 4.

In John 15:15, Jesus said we are no more servants but friends. He has made everything He knew about His Father known to us; he chose us. All this signifies that we carry the Traits and the DNA of God.

Jesus said, “ Greater will we do.” John 14:12.

We will get all these benefits if we associate ourselves with Christ.

Your spiritual leaders and clergymen won’t save you. Only Jesus will. We need to know God for ourselves; self-righteousness will fail us.

Remember, in the last days, many events will occur. We’re already in perilous times. People love to serve only themselves. Covetousness is real; people boast in themselves more than in the Lord.

We should never have a form of godliness and deny the power thereof.

Let’s come together and put away all these negative attributes and put on the character of Christ, which is found in Gal 5:22-26. We need to crucify the flesh with the affections and lust thereof, pick up our cross, and follow Jesus.

Finally, 2 Timothy 3:2.

Endure Hardship like a Good Soldier of Christ. Don’t just partake of the benefit; be part of the hardship. Then, you will understand your place and purpose in Christ Jesus.

Stay Bless,

3 John 2. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be healthy, even as thy soul prospereth.
