THE STILL SMALL VOICE!

THE STILL SMALL VOICE!

IMG_1040.JPG

What is a voice? A voice can be articulation, call, intonation, murmur, shout, sound, song, speech, utterance, vent, vocalisation, vociferation, and many more examples.

In this discussion, we will be looking at voice as the act of HEARING.

One of the bases of Christianity is the ability to HEAR. When God called Samuel in the Bible, it took Samuel time to understand the voice calling his name. Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord saying,” Who shall I send and Who shall God for Me?”.

This means God wants to speak to His children, and He wants us to hear from Him.

The first step of hearing the Voice of God is by Preparation.

We will be looking at two powerful servants of God in the Bible; they represent two of the three parts of the Bible. ( THE LAW, THE PROPHETS AND THE SAVIOUR!). The law represents Moses, the prophet represent Elijah, and the saviour is our Lord Jesus Christ.

1. MOSES “Being Sensitive To The Move Of Change.”

When God called Moses from the burning bush, he heard a Voice! The Bible says,” God communed with Him face to face, he could listen to God.

He delivered the Israelites from slavery. The children of Israel murmured because of lack of water, and Moses cried unto God, and God told him STRIKE (smite) THE ROCK and water came out for the children of Israel to drink.

The second instance, according to Numbers 20:10-13. Here God said Only SPEAK TO THE ROCK!

But what did Moses do? He struck the rock twice. This was the sin that prevented him from entering the promised land. Flexibility was lacking in Moses’s life. I agree that the people were challenging to lead, but that was not the justification to disobey God.

Flexibility and Sensitivity must be in place when walking with God. You must be flexible to the changes and moves of God. The instruction that God gave to Mr A might not be the same He will provide to you. You have to hear directly from God, not Assuming.

Our God is not a straight jacket God; you must be ready to bend to walk with God. We have to be patient to confirm every word spoken to us if it’s actually from God.

Moses did not sin, he only over-reacted, and this led to his death in the wilderness. He saw the promised land, but he could not enter. Deuteronomy 3:27.

2. Elijah ” Sensitivity and Flexibility!

You cannot speak of Prophet Elijah without talking about the Showdown at Mount Carmel. Read 1 Kings 18!

Ahab, the evil king of Israel, went home and told his wife, lady Jezebel that’s why brothers, we need to marry the right person. Women can be of a significant influence to a man, either positive or negative.

After Elijah had brought down the fire of God and had conquered and slaughtered 450 prophets of Baal.

Jezebel made him run from his life. 1 Kings 19:1-4. When God was ready to speak to Elijah after he walked for forty days and forty nights dry fast, Elijah was sensitive and flexible to the Change around him.

Kings 19:11-13

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, it was so that he wrapped his face in his mantle, went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

This is where we are heading.

God passed by three means we are familiar with, but He was not in the midst of them all.

1. Strong Wind!

I want you to note this, after the showdown at Mount Carmel, God sent rain, now a mighty wind blew, and the rain was coming down, the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah, and he outran the chariots of Ahab. Now, this same wind appeared, but God was absent!

2. Earthquake!!!

The exact means God used in the past, during the wilderness experience of Moses and the children of Israel. He was not in the earthquake.

3. Fire!!!

At least let us justify the first two instances! The same God that answered by fire, some forty-something days ago, is nowhere to be found in a fire? Can’t you beat that?

In all these instances, Elijah was sensitive at the same time, flexible to Change!

~ Finally ” THE STILL SMALL VOICE!”

As Christians, we have to be smart and sensitive to the voice of God, know God for ourselves. Have a personal relationship with Him, not based on your parents or church. Every man will stand for himself when the time comes.

These are times whereby your life and destiny should be agreeing to the will of God.

When God speaks to us, the devil will also speak! Voices will be sounding around our heads! We need to stay calm and discern which is actually the voice of heaven. This is where the gift of discernment matters a lot.

Proverbs 2:11″ Discretion shall preserve thee; understanding shall keep thee.”

Understanding and discretion are key! Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom, in all thine getting, get understanding!

We need to know God and be the pastors and prophets of ourselves, so we will not be confused in these last days.

As God’s people, our steps need to be ordered by Him. Our decisions and rules should be based on His will and purpose for our lives. We need to get confirmation from God before taking any step! Isaiah 28:10. “Precepts upon Precepts; Line Upon Line, Here a Little, There a Little.”

Obedience is important for us as Christians. Else we will miss out on God’s original plans for us.

What stops us from not hearing from God?

1. Our Iniquities:

Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, that he will not hear! Isaiah 59:1-2

We need to take a big U-Turn and trace our steps back to the Lord! According to Isaiah 1:18; He will reason with us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness🙌👏

2. Pride!!

Humans are proud naturally, and God is in the business of breaking people and making them stay humble. He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble👏🙌

Finally, God wants to speak to us, and He wants to have a relationship with you and me.

But we have to be Available and ready to yield and obey His rules and regulations.

When we are not yielding, he treats us according to Job 33:14-22! I pray it will never be our portion!

I love you all; God bless.

❤️🙌
