UNITY “THE POWER OF ONE ACCORD”

You can do what I cannot do, I can do what You cannot do, But this one thing is sure.

“Together, we can do great things.”

You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness. Ephesians 4:5-6.

What is Unity? There are so many definitions that every able human being canon. From the 66-book Love Story (The Bible), the definition of unity comes from studying the lives of a group of people whom ourst personally mentored. I am talking about the Apostles of Faith, give a definiti Lord Jesus Chri from Peter to Matthias to the early church.

After Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, He appeared to His disciples several times within 40 days. Ten days after His ascension (Pentecost day), they received the promise of the Father, “The Holy Spirit.”

There is something unique about Jesus’s disciples. In John 17, while He was praying for them, He specifically asked God to keep them united in togetherness.

The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind—Just as you, Father, are in me and I in you, So, they might be one heart and mind with us.Then the world might believe that you, in fact, sent me. John 17:21

The prayer was simple and very powerful: That They May Be ONE! The word unity, as per Jesus’s definition, is ONE, no matter how large or many we are.

“Though we are many, we are One body in Christ.”

In Acts 2, the Bible tells us they were together in One Accord, waiting patiently on the promise of the Holy Spirit in the upper room. There were about 120 men and women, and they had one simple purpose: “The Pentecost!”

The promise and manifestation of the Holy Spirit through an event that transpired on Pentecost could not have happened had the disciples not united. They did more for God because after Pentecost, they still stayed together in groups, no lone walker, no one taking things personally. They were there to serve the word of Holiness and Peace.

Unity seems very basic, and most people, sadly enough, ignore the power of togetherness. Looking at the present-day church, you will notice a lot of division. Yes! I said so because group A sees themselves as superior to other groups. Whereas Paul said:

There is neither Jew nor Greek, bond nor free, male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ JesusGalatians 3:28.

During the early church, disunity was coming up because the devil understood very well the saying of Jesus in Matthew 28:31b

‘I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.’

Though Jesus meant it in a good way, because persecution made them go in groups worldwide, they preached Christ and established many churches there. But the devil in this dispensation is making leaders fight each other. At this time, you see pastor A fighting pastor B, and both members take the fight even more personally. This is what disunity can cause. Paul asked the Corinthians church in 1 Corinthians 3:4-5.

“For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?”

We are so divided that even young Christian groups now swear allegiance: Group A will never attend the conferences of Group B, and vice versa. All because neither leader agrees and is not friends. Now you wonder why this generation of Christians is the most POWERLESS in history. This is because we are all practising one form of disunity or the other.

This is very sad, but when you study the Bible profoundly, you will begin to understand the benefits of unity and see around you people who were united and what they achieved.

If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart if you care— then do me a favour: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Phil 2:1-2.

Unity Brings:

perfect-in-one

  1. Grace. When walking in unity, we can do more in a united group than our individual strength alone.
  2. Obedience. Unity helps in keeping us in check. “No man is an island on his own; you can’t just do it by your strength. Never!” We’re one body, we have one simple goal: Holiness, Righteousness, and Peace with all men, without which no man shall see God. These are easy to achieve when we walk in unity.
  3. Perseverance 2 Corinthians 4:7-end, the apostle Paul was talking about “WE” all the time. In unity, we can endure, stand, push on, and press forward to the utmost goal in life.
  4. POWER!!!!! Yes, this is it. “United We Stand or Divided We Fall” Unity brings a strange power that your enemies are too scared to understand. When a nation is united, you don’t mess with them. In Acts 4, something strange happened. When the disciples demonstrated the power of the Holy Ghost, the city’s rulers and priests of the synagogues were challenged and in distress. They asked Peter and his group: By what Power and Authority do you perform these things? These people threaten them that they will go home scared. But because of unity, according to Acts 4:23-37, this story will send a chill to your body. They went home and cried as a group in One Accord to God by the time they had finished. The Bible says, and I quote: And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31.

This is what unity can do. Unity brings Power, which in turn brings Boldness.

Finally, dearly beloved, you can only give your best, but you will do great exploits when combined. Stay united, stay focused. Paul told them in Philippians 3:13-17 but focused on verse 16: Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

We need to have the same mind, goal, and rules to perform our duties as people of God. I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.  So, let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed toward this goal. Many are taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I’ve warned you of them many times; sadly, I must do it again. All they want is an easy street. They hate Christ’s Cross. But Easy Street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites.

I close by saying this,

“The way to the Top is Lonely, and when you get there, it is Boring. You will need People both on your way to the top and when you get to the top.”  Stay united.

Same Mind, Same Goal, Same Rule. Jesus Only, Jesus Ever, Jesus All. UNITY!
