In the part one series we spoke about seeing the future from the present situation. This time we are looking on how we are to press on despite the hard-times and hardships. Taking our text from 2 Corinthians 4:13-18
13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
In life you will face hard times, you will pass through the fire, afflictions will arise, adversity will knock at your door someday! it’s guaranteed. Proverbs 24:10, Isaiah 43:2. Our focus is,” what and how are we going to scale through and press forward?”
Bro Paul in Philippians 3:13-14 says he is forgetting the past and he is reaching forth for the future. This means he is not letting the present situation to tie him down or take a hold of him. He says ” I press towards the mark for the price of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” He is letting us understand that his focus and goal is for him to get that price, have that goal and fulfill that God giving destiny despite the problems he was facing at that time.
What are the things that will keep you pressing forward and from sinking ?
~ Your Faith will keep you from Fainting. Vs 13.
We have one of the Fruit of the spirit which Faith Galatians 5:22 and also the Gift of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 12:9. This means how equipped you are will determined response in times of difficulties.
The grace of faith is an important antidote in this perilous time. Proverbs 24:10 says ” If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” This means adversity will come. But your faith will speak for you on that day. The gift and fruit of Faith will go a long way to bear up your spirit in times of infirmities and trials. Will you encourage yourself in the lord like David or will you faint, lament or grumble like the children Of Israel?
~ The Hope of Resurrection will Keep you from Sinking! Vs 14.
My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus Blood & Righteousness; On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand!!!! All other ground will Sink!!!!
What is the Hope You Have? Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-End
The hope of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ will encourage us in our hard-times and suffering days and set us far above the fear of death. To be honest, of what reason will a True Christian have to be afraid of Death, When there’s a glorious resurrection? Christ in Me, The Hope of Glory!!! Colossians 1:27b.
Remember the apostles were threatened to be killed if they preached Christ. But they did not yield to the treats because their master Jesus Christ is Risen!!! Hallelujah😜👊😄☝️💃😛. Instead the prayed for Boldness!!!!
~ The Consideration of the Glory of God and the Benefit of the Church. Vs 15.
Your trials and sufferings is for the edifying of the body of Christ. You will not die in this situation. Christ Jesus came in flesh so He could give hope to us.
Christ in Us, The Hope of Glory!!! This means there is hope for glory in every situation we find ourselves.
~ The Renewing of your Inner Man! Vs 16.
Though your outward man is perishing, but the inner man is renewed day by day.
We as humans have both the outward man and the inner man. If the outward man perishes, there is not a problem. We should die to flesh daily. Galatians 5:16.
It’s our inner man that matters most to us.We need to feed our inner man with the words and promises of God.
~ The Prospect of Eternal life and Happiness. Vs 17.
This prospect will get you moving forward and keep you form fainting. It is the fuel and support you need during hard-times. It is this prospect of eternal life that allows us to make the right decisions and judgments.
You have to keep in mind that. Heaven is your number one Goal. It is our priority.
Finally vs 18 says ” While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
The Key Word is FAITH.
We are looking at the unseen, off course it is by faith. We should have this view of our eternal world. The glory of our triumph should be our push through the hard-times.
Faith should enable us to make the right judgement of things. It is by faith we see God who is invisible Hebrews 10:27
David was in the bush, but he didn’t see the bush, instead he saw himself conquering Goliath and sitting on the throne of Israel.
Joseph was put into the prison, but he never allowed the prison to get into him. He saw himself as the prime minister of a strange land.
We need to see our glory from our present hard-times and the only way we can do this is through Faith. Our faith and hope should walk hand in hand. Faith is substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. We have to look ahead. Those promises those eternal blessing.
The Unseen things will last forever…
Let us keep the dream alive, let us hold fast our profession. God has promised, He will never fail.
Let’s all stay strong and encourage ourselves in The Lord.
God bless….
