THE BORN AGAIN EXPERIENCE: Ephesians 2:1-10.

IMG_3280.PNG

Ephesians 2:1-10
1. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6. And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7. That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

IMG_3281.JPG

In the part One of these series:
We look at our miserable state of sin, when we were dead in our trespasses and how God’s grace and mercy located us.
Verse 1-3 tells us about our old state.

~ Our Unregenerate souls that are dead in trespasses and sins. All those who are in their sins, are dead in sins. Sin is the death of the soul. Wherever that prevails there is privation of spiritual life. Sinners are dead in state, being destitute of the spiritual life and cut off from God. They lack the fountain of life. And the are slave to the law.
~ A state of sin is a state of conformity to this world. Vs 2; says wherein in time past, we did walk according to the prince of the power of the air and the spirit that now work in the children of disobedience.
~ We were fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind.

Verse 4-10: gives account of God’s glorious mercy and salvation of our souls through Grace:

We must realize that salvation is free but not cheap. There are many things we have to drop in order to continue in this free gift that Christ has given us. Our old man and old ways have to be nailed to the cross.
We have grace at our disposal but we should not take the liberty Christ has given us for granted.

Our liberty and freedom from the grip of the devil is not because we are righteous, it is because of Grace. This grace is sufficient for us in every situation we find ourselves.
We ought to walk on this grace and help others trace their way Christ.
It’s is not an avenue to condemn others and put on The- Holier Than Thou Attitude. But we should remember that we were once dead to sin, grace found us, mercy saved us. We ought to pray for our fellow, believing God that they will be save.

Finally: The 10th Verse says:
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

We are now created in the Imagine of Christ Jesus, Our Life is Hid in Christ and Christ in God. It means we are Untouchable as God’s people.
As we are living a right life, before anything harms us, it must harm Christ Jesus and God first before harming us. Even the devil himself bears witness that’s impossible.
We only need to walk in the principles of holiness and righteousness; according to the will of our Heavenly Father.

God Bless.

THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

20140726-133718-49038990.jpg
2 Corinthians 5:16-21. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19. To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21. For he hath made him be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The question remains, “How can God be just—that is, true to Himself in nature and true to Himself in holiness—and yet justify the sinner?” Because each man had to bear his own sins, all mankind was excluded from helping, since each was contaminated with the same disease. The only solution was for an innocent party to volunteer to die physically and spiritually as a substitution before God. This innocent party would have to take man’s judgment, penalty, and death. But where was such an individual? Certainly, there was none on earth. There was only one possibility. God’s own Son was the only personality in the universe who had the capacity to bear in His own body the sins of the world. Only God’s Son was infinite and thus able to die for all.

Christ gave us Both Regeneration and Reconciliation.

~ REGENERATION:
This consists of two things
1. Separation from the world: ” Henceforth we know no man after the flesh” vs 16. We do not own or affect any person or thing. We trust not in the flesh of any man.
We are enabled only by divine grace, not to mind nor regard this world, nor the things of this world. But to live far above it.
We must live in His spiritual presence and the comfort it affords
2. A thorough change of the heart: ” For if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature!” Vs 17a. This ought to be the goal and purpose of all those who confess and profess Christian faith, that they be new creatures, not only a new name but a new heart, new nature, and a new life.
” Old things are passed away- old thoughts, old principles, old practice, old religion they are all gone away! And all things have become New” vs 17b.
Regeneration creates a new world in the soul, all things are new. The renewed man acts from new principles, by new rules, with new ends, and in a new company.

RECONCILIATION:
1. Reconciliation as an Unquestionable Privilege: vs 18-19. There is already a breach of friendship, of the relationship between man and God.
God appointed the mediator, He has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ.
God does not input sin to those who have confessed and have reconciled back with Him.

2. Reconciliation as our Indispensable Duty. Vs 20. God is ready and willing to bring back the old time friendship and relationship He once had with Adam.
God now made the reconciled to become ambassadors for Christ to reconcile others tonGod. Romans 5:10.

2 Corinthians 5:21.For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
1. The purity of the mediator~ He knew no sin.
2. The sacrifice He offered~ He was made Sin, not Sinner, but Sin. That is to say; A Sin-Offering, a sacrifice for Sin.
3. All these sacrifices, so ~ ” We can be made THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM!”

As Christ who knew no sin of His own was made sin for us. Our Reconciliation to God is only through Jesus Christ, and for the sake of His merit. On Him, therefore, we must rely only and by His Grace alone.
We have to put old things and old life away. Putting our old man away.
Which is sin, lust, the pride of life, the power of satan, the world, the law of sin and death, the lust of the eyes. And putting on the new man, which is love, peace, fellowship, obedience, patient, self-control and holiness without which we can’t see God.

“JESUS THE MEDIATOR OF THE NEW COVENANT.” Hebrews 12:24.

20140723-163215-59535508.jpg
Hebrews 12:24
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things that that of Abel.

This blood does two major things
1. It speaks to God on behalf of we sinners, it plead not for vengeance in respect to that of Abel but for Mercy.
2. To Us sinners it speaks pardon to our sins, peace to our souls, speaks obedience and love to us.

From previous studies, we did identify the need of a redeemer and a middle man that can give us access to God directly.
This verse of the bible makes it clear to us, that the bridge between us and God is Jesus Christ.

~ The gospel covenant is a new covenant, it is different from the covenant of works; and it is now under the new dispensation, distinct from the old covenant.
Remember Ephesians 2:8-9. It is by Grace we are saved and Not by our Works, it is A Gift From God.
~ Christ is the mediator of the new covenant; He is the middle person that goes between both parties, God and man, to bring them together in this covenant, to keep them together not withstanding the sins of the people. And to offer up our prayers to God and to bring down the favours of God to us.
To plead with God for us, to bring God back to His original plans for us.
~ This covenant is ratified by the blood of Christ sprinkled upon, as the blood of the sacrifice was sprinkled upon the alter. This blood of Christ purifies us.
~ This blood speaks better things than that of Abel.

From a simple definition we know a mediator is a person, that stands between two or more people. Like a middle man, like an ambassador.

The Benefits of the Mediator.

20140723-163400-59640917.jpg

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

The death of Jesus Christ established a better communication and relationship with us as humans and with God our creator. Been our high priest and mediator for a better life and covenant we have countless and endless benefit if only we can embrace Him and let Him take the wheel of our lives.

– He broke the Wall of Partition.
Ephesians 2:14.
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us.
It means Christ Jesus broke down the high wall, that fence, those laws that were separating the Jews and the Gentiles, that wall of guilt, shame, fear of getting closer to God. Christ gave us direct access to our father in Heaven. Christ abolished the laws, ordinances, and rituals of the old, providing a new covenant for humanity where everybody have equal chance and right.

– Redeemed us from the Curse of the Law.
Galatians 3:13-14
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Christ bought us back for the curse of the law, we are no longer bondage to it, we won’t bear the pain and face the punishment of our sins no more.
He was made an atonement for sin was consider as bearing the punishment due to sin. If sin, sickness, pain, sufferings, death and all the effect of sin were a part of the curse and the result of it. Christ atoned for them all and removed them from our lives.
Christ allowed us to get the blessings of Abraham and the promise of the Holy Spirit. We can only get this through Faith in God and believing in Jesus as our Lord and personal Saviour.

– Blotted out the Hand Writing of Ordinances.
Colossians 2:14-15
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
The laws that were written was against us, He blotted them away with His blood. And it had no further claim to hold us in sin nor bondage as they could have done by the mean of the law.
We are no more under it cursed and penalty. He took it out of our way, so we don’t have to stumble on it anymore.
This also makes us have no more excuse to live in sin because we are no more under the law but under grace. Romans 6:14-15.

-Delivered us from the Powers of Darkness.
Colossians 1:13-14.
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.
He had freed us from satan and his power and kingdom of sin, sickness and lots more. He placed us under a new government of light and peace. He could only do this through His precious blood that was shed for us.

Finally the mediator gave us boldness to enter into the Holiest by His precious blood. Hebrews 10:19.

20140723-163856-59936410.jpg
We have daily full access to heave at our disposal, we can talk to God when ever we want and ask anything in accordance to His words and to His glory, asking in the name of Jesus, we will have it.
The Power of the Mediator lies in His Blood. Hebrews 9:11-28 and His death on the Cross. The old covenant was faulty, man needed a sacrifice once and for all that will cleanse us all from our sins. Those of bulls and animals couldn’t get us this far.
– The Devil wrote his WILL (Testament):
Wanted us to suffer, have sicknesses, problems, lack of peace, death. But since he did not die for Man Kind, that Will is of no effect, because ” Without the Death of the Testator, the Testament (Will) is of No Effect and Invalid.
– Christ Jesus came into the scene and offered us Hope, new life, new beginning, forgiveness of our sins, grace, love, fellowship, and in all reconciling us back to our Father , our First Love, Like in the days of Adam before the fall.
He did this going to the Cross to die for our sins, He paid the debts he did not Owe with His own blood.
Because the Bible says without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.
Now we are Free!!! Only if we work according to His Purpose and Plan for our Lives.
I encourage us this day to embrace God and His plans of redemption He Has made provision for.
God Bless.

GOD’S PLAN FOR REDEMPTION. ” JESUS THE REDEEMER.”

20140701-145419-53659687.jpg
GOD’S PLAN FOR REDEMPTION.
Rom 3:23-25.

We saw last time that after the fall of man, he needed Redemption. i.e.(Freedom from the power of evil or slavery). And that this Redemption that will Restore Righteousness to
him must come from God for no man can stand before God for himself because the whole human race is under indictment for Adam’s act of Treason. (Rom 3:23).

WHO WILL THEN BE THE REDEEMER?

The redeemer must be a man however, He must not be a subject of Satan .i.e. Satan must have no legal claims or authority over Him. He must Not possess within His Spirit spiritual death. Gal 4:3-5.
He must stand before God in Righteousness, possessing the same Dominion and Authority as Adam before the fall. Mt 28:18.
He must work as a man perfectly pleasing God. Heb 4:15.
He must meet Satan in Temptation as the first Man did, but He must Not Yield to Satan’s will. Lk 4:1-13.
He must go to hell, remain there under judgment until He legally acquits man thereby conquering death and bringing life and immortality to man, and freeing man from the penalty of going to hell. Rom 5:6-9; Mt 27:52-53; Rom 4:25; Eph 4:2-10.

GOD’S PROVISION FOR REDEMPTION.

Mt 1:18-25; Jn 3: 14-17.

For man to REGAIN the lost Righteousness, God must make a Perfect Provision that will come in the form of man Gen 3:15. Though He will be free from Satanic dominion in His earth walk.
The Redeemer is a Mediator who’s standing in between God and man to bridge the gap and unite God with man 1Tim 2:5. He is God’s Incarnate one. Lk 1:30-35.

JESUS: THE REDEEMER.

we saw from the scriptures that man who was created in God’s image and likeness, sinned and lost God’s Nature which made him to be in great need of redemption and God made a plan for man’s redemption. Heb 2:9-18; Rom 3:24-25.
Jesus entered the Holy place to obtain eternal redemption for us: He is the propitiation for man’s sins. I Jn 2:2. His blood became the seal of man’s redemption. Heb 9:11-12.
Who is this Jesus?

20140701-151114-54674775.jpg
1). He is the Son of God. Jn 3:16-18.
2). He is our High Priest. Entering into the Holies with His own blood making sacrifice for us. Heb 9:11-15.
3). He is our sin bearer who bore our sin so that sin cannot have dominion over us again. Isa 53:5-6; Rom 6:14
4). He is our Mediator who stands before God for us i.e. He introduces the unsaved man to God. I Tim 2:5.
5). He is our Intercessor who is constantly interceding for us against the plans of the devil. Lk 22:31-32; Rom 8:34; Jn 17:9.
6). He is our Advocate who pleads on our behalf to the Father the moment we sin and confess our sins to Him. I Jn 2:1-2.
7). He has been made a curse for us so that we cannot remain under any curse or consequence of sin. Gal 3:13.
8). He is our Burden Bearer who bears our grief, pains, sorrows, disappointments etc. Isa 53 :4.
9). He is our Healer who heals our sicknesses and diseases. Isa 53:4-5; I Pt 2:24.
10).He is our Surety who is always standing for us representing us before the Father. He is the surety of better testament. Heb 7:21-24. with Him we have a sure standing with Father.

Rom 5:1-2,6-9 Therefore being justified by Faith, we have peace with god through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by Faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

For when we where yet without sin, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteousness man will one die; peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

MAN’S NEED OF REDEMPTION.

20140701-142800-52080985.jpg
What is redemption?
Redemption is the state of being freed from the power of evil.
Redemption means a New Creation in the spirit of man. It is the giving of a New Nature; a New Life to man. Man has lost God’s Nature, Fellowship and the Authority given to him and became spiritually dead which made God drove him out of the Garden of Eden so that man would not have access to the tree of life while he was spiritually dead. Now, he can no longer respond to the call of God. Their fellowship has been broken Gen 3:8-11.

Spiritual death must be absolutely destroyed in man’s life. The Nature of satan Gal 5:19-21 must be completely eradicated from man’s Nature, so that he can stand as free from satan authority as though he had never died spiritually.
Man’s need is life; God’s Nature: Gal 5:22-23 but God cannot impact His Nature to man again until He first makes it legally possible for man to be freed from the Nature of satan.
Man is utterly helpless to redeem / Free himself by his own efforts. He had obeyed satan, bringing himself under satanic subjection and was helpless because nothing could ever redeem humanity for every man was under satanic dominion. Rom 13:10-12.
A greater than satan must undertake on man’s behalf. God Himself must redeem man. The penalty of sin must be paid through one who will act as man’s substitute. Man’s sin and spiritual death must be laid upon this substitute who will pay the penalty and impact Righteousness into man thereby making him to be discharged and acquitted from his Guilt. Isa 53:3-12, Rom 6:18,22.
NOTE: We must remember that Redemption is not Forgiveness. Forgiveness alone would not bring back the Fellowship between God and man. It could not give back the Fellowship / Life that has been lost. It would mean man continually making sacrifice daily to be in Fellowship with God. Which was the condition of Israel Heb 10:3,11.
Man’s need was Redemption not forgiveness.

THE FALL OF MAN & MAN’S RECONCILIATION WITH GOD.

20140701-134734-49654682.jpg
THE FALL OF MAN.

When God created man in His image and CONFERRED upon him the authority to rule the universe, it was the most sacred heritage that God could give to man. (Gen 1:28).
This authority/dominion was lost when Adam voluntantly handed it over to the enemy of God which is satan the devil. Though it was the woman that was deceived, yet Adam could have averted this tragedy being the original leader of this great human movement. (Gen 3:1 – 6)
satan who has received a TRANSFER of AUTHORITY by the man God originally gave it to, started operating in his new office of power. And this what the devil was even displaying at Jesus TEMPTATION. (Luke 4:1 – 13).

THE RESULT OF THE FALL.

20140701-135044-49844928.jpg
Spiritual and Physical death became the result of the fall. (Gen 2:15 – 17) man became spiritually dead when the NO. 1 purpose of his being was defeated i.e. Fellowship. It was the thwarting of God’s plan.
Man was spiritually alienated from God and driven from fellowship (Romans 5:12). Sin separates(Gen 3:23-24).
Man became physically dead also when he fell. He was originally made to leave forever but immediately after this fall, his physical life was cut short and he was no longer supposed to live because here he chose to die by disobeying his creator God (Gen 2:17)
God left man to exercise his will, else God would have fenced or barricaded this controversial tree.

Spiritual death: This therefore is a state of separation and alienation from God.
Physical death: This is a state of man’s spirit separated from his soul and body.

THE NEW BIRTH:MAN`S RECONCILIATION WITH GOD.

20140701-135348-50028869.jpg
COL 2 :13-14; EPH 2:1 -22. After the fall of man and Christ’s redemptive work, man is expected to play an active role in his redemption. He is to accept God’s provision for his redemption or he will forever be doomed.

WHAT IS THE NEW BIRTH?
It is being made a New Creation in Christ.
•It is being born from above 2 Cor 5:17; Jn 3:3-8.
•It is receiving the lost Nature and Life of Christ Jn 10:10.
•It is having a Clean and New Heart Ez 36:25-27.
•It is being united with Christ.
The New Birth is purely the work of God. Eph 2 :8-9. He is a New-being. A new-born babe. A New Creation that has come into being thru God. The father has no memory of his past life.
Matthew 28:18; Eph 1: 19-23; Phil 2:8-11; Rom 14:9.
Because of the Victory as a man over satan; God has crowned Jesus as Lord. The Dominion which man once had and lost, was not given back directly to him yet he forfeit it again. Therefore the lost Lordship was given to Christ who holds it for man: God made Christ “LORD” Acts 2:36: thus breaking the Lordship of satan over man.
The Natural man lives in bondage to sin and rebellion towards God because satan is lord of his life. The Natural man needs a New Lord, a New Master.

WHAT THE NEW BIRTH IS NOT.
•It is not being religious or church going Lk 18:11012.
•It is not the keeping of the law Gal 2:16.
•It is not self righteousness Is 64:6.
•It is not human knowledge, education and culture 1Cor 1 :18-25.
•It is not water baptism. ACTS 8 :36-39.
All these are good and important but will not\ cannot substitute for the New Birth.

HOW CAN MAN RECEIVE THE NEW BIRTH?
The New Birth can ONLY be received by confessing the LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST which is the WAY OF SALVATION.
When a man invites Jesus into his heart and confess the Lordship of Christ, he is totally delivered from the authority, of satan into the Authority of Christ. Satan’s authority over his life comes to nought.
Immediately any man receives Christ, he receives the Nature of God and becomes God’s son. Jn 1:12; Rom 10:8-13. For any man to receive the New Birth, he must have a TOTAL and GENUINE TURN-AROUND from his formal master and state to be RECONCILED to God and TRANSLATED to his NEW MASTER. Col 1:12-22.

STEPS TO THE NEW BIRTH.
1). ACKNOWLEDGE your sins Rom 3:23.
2). CONFESS and FORSAKE your sins 1 Jn 1:9; Acts 3:19.
3). INVITE and RECEIVE Jesus into your life. Jn 1:11-12; Eph 2:8.
4). BELIEVE that you are saved. Rom 10:9-10.
