He’s Risen! The Wonderful Story of Hope

IMG_2529

Today is one of the most important days of the Christian faith because it is the day that Our Lord Jesus Christ arose from the grave.

After the fall of man, God needed a mediator To bridge the gap between Him and human beings. For this purpose, He sent us His only begotten son to atone for our sins. John 3:16

When Jesus started his ministry according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. He first went to Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist, many signs and wonders were accomplished in the ministry of Jesus. This caused confusion in the camp of the Pharisees the Sadducees and other religious groups. These groups felt that Jesus Christ was making the people have a personal relationship with God through Him and turning them away from the old tradition of their forefathers and making the people see God in a different perspective.

Jesus message was simple:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

John 14:6-7.

This message of Jesus angered the high priest and the chief priest.  Many times they sought to destroy Jesus by asking Him questions hoping to build a case of blasphemy against Jesus. But because it was not his time, they ended up not able to convict Him of any crime. The four Gospels give different details of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, His miracles, His preachings and dealings with the religious set.

From his early life to his ministry to his passion ( crucifixion) and resurrection were all programmed by God.

The Passion:

Passion of Christ entails his triumphal  entry into Jerusalem ( Palm Sunday), The cleansing of the temple ( Matt 21:12-17; Mark 11:15-19; Luke 19:45-48; and John 2:13-16.) and also prophesying His second coming, He was also anointed on His head and His feet with an Alabaster Jar of very expensive perfume made from Pure nard. Mark 14:3-9, John 12:1-8, Matthew 26:6-13.

He had the last supper with His disciples where He talked about continuity in unity and His betrayal by Judas and Peter’s denial of Him.  Matthew 26:17-35. His agonizing time in the garden of Gethsemane up to the kiss of betrayal and  His arrest. Matthew 26:36-56.

Jesus was then taken to the high priest and Sanhedrin ( Tribunal of twenty-three or seventy-one rabbis appointed in every city of ancient Israel.) to be tried. They found nothing against Him. But there arose someone to bear false witness against Jesus. There Peter denied His three times as Jesus predicted! Matthew 26:57-75, Mark 14:53-72, John 18:12-27, Luke 22:54-71.

Jesus was further sent to Pilate Court first, according to Luke 23:1-26. Pilate found out that Jesus was Galilean and sent Him to Herod’s Court. Luke 23:6-12. Notice in verse 12 Herod and Pilate made peace on the Head of Jesus.

Jesus was now returned to Pilate there He was tried. Although they found no fault in Him, they requested He be crucified and the thief Barabbas be released.  Matthew 27:11-26, Mark 15:1:22.

The crucifixion: Matthew 27:27-66.

He was first stripped and a scarlet robe was placed on Him. With a crown of thorns placed on His head. The mocked Him and said; “ Hail, King of the Jews!”

He was further brought to a place called Golgotha “ a place of a skull “ there they gave Him vinegar to drink mixed with gall. King David prophesied this in Psalm 69:21.

Finally, they crucified Him casting lot on His garment so that the law could be fulfilled. Psalm 22:18. They later set over His head, His accusation “ This Is Jesus, King Of The Jews!” Two thieves were crucified with Him, one on both sides.

The Death: Matthew 27:45-50, John 19:30-37, Luke 23:44-49, Mark 15:33-41.

Between the sixth and ninth hour, something strange happened, darkness was all over the land. And exactly as the ninth hour, Jesus cried, “ Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? Meaning: My God, My God, why Has thou forsaken Me?  Again He cried aloud when He was given vinegar again and gave up the Ghost.

The Greatest Gift!

Immediately Jesus died, the Veil of the temple was torn in two! The earth quaked, and the rocks rent. Graves were open and many bodies of the saints which slept did arise.

His Burial. Matthew 27:57-66, Luke 23:50-56, John 19:38-42, Mark 15:42-47.

Jesus was wrapped in a clean linen cloth, placed in Joseph of Arimathaea  as prophesied by Prophet Isaiah. Isaiah 53:9.

His tomb was sealed and watched.

The miraculous happened and this is the hope we have. Christ is risen! He arose from the dead on the third day.

The Resurrection Power!

I will start by saying,

“ If the devil knew, that sending Jesus to the grave will bring everlasting redemption, he would never have rejoiced over the death of Jesus!”

The resurrection power happened on the third day. According to the gospels of Matthew 28:1-20, Mark 16:1-20, Luke 24:1-53, John 20:1-29.

There was a great earthquake and the stone was rolled away. His countenance shined so much and His raiment white as snow. This made the guards of the sepulcher act dead. Jesus has risen!

Christ in me the Hope of glory!

Mary Magdalene and the Mary (mother of James and Joses) came to the sepulcher and met an angel there. The angel told them; He’s not there He’s Risen!

The benefits of His resurrection.

When Jesus gave up the ghost, the Veil which was rent was the veil which divided the holy place into which the priest entered from the holy of holies into which only the High Priest might enter on the day of atonement. Exodus 26:31-35, Leviticus 16:1-30. The rending of the Veil, which was a type of the human body of Christ signified that a new and living way was open for all believers. Having a personal relationship with God. Hebrews 10:19-22. This was done with no other sacrifice or priesthood save Christ. Hebrews 9:1-8.

Finally, Jesus gave us the great commission!

Go into the world and preach this Good News, the Good Tidings!

Power was given to us.

This is our gospel!

2 Timothy 2:8

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel!
