Judges 16:4. And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
We all know the story of the man called Samson in the Bible and the woman called Delilah. In this contest I will be talking about we Humans as Samson and the Sins we commit as Delilah.
For us to understand this story and message, we first need to understand who Samson was. To cut the story short; Samson was the 14th Judge of Israel and he judged Israel for 20 years.
Judges 13; 14; 15 & 16 tells us about Samson & Numbers 6 tells us about the life and rules of a nazarite.
Samson was a man of miraculous birth. Just like every man born of a woman. We are all destined for greatness. Samson came in a time when Israel needed a savior. He was their hope and joy. God specifically gave his father and mother specific and detailed instructions, on how he will live his life, his dos and don’t.
There were 5 commandments to the mum & dad.
1. To his Mum, make sure you drink no wine nor strong drink. Judges 13:4,7,14.
2. Eat no unclean thing.
3. No razor shall come upon his head. vs 5
4. Don’t not eat anything that comes from the vine. vs 14.
5. His father must make sure his wife ( Samson’s mother) follows all these rules.
Samson was already consecrated even before he was conceived in his mothers womb.
We should note this before we continue:
Samson strength did not lie in his hair and muscles, but in the relationship and vow he had with God through the Holy Spirit which was upon him. (Judges 13:25; 14:6,19; 15:14.) and also his faith in God ( Heb 11:32-40). His hair was a token of his vow to God and spoke of that relationship which gave him strength.
Samson had 12 recorded exploits in the Bible.
1) Rending a lion barehanded. Jug 14:6.
2) Slew 30 men. Jug 14:19.
3) Caught 300 foxes. Jug 15:4-5.
4) Smote philistines with great slaughter. Jug 15:8.
5) Broke 2 new ropes that bound him. Jug 15:13
6) Slew 1,000 armed men with jaw bone of an ass. Jug 15:15-17.
7) Brought water out of the jawbone. Jug 15:16-20.
8) Broke the city gates and carried them to the hill top before Hebron. Jug 16:3.
9) Broke 7 green cords of braided wood that bound him. Jug 16:6-9.
10) Broke new ropes that bound him. Jug 16:10-12.
11) Broke the pin that bound his 7 locks of hair to the wall and carried the pin and web with him. Jug 16:13-15.
12) Slew 3000 men and women by pulling down the great pillars that held up the house. Jug 16:23-31.
Samson had it wrong because he allowed the wrong people into his inner circle, He was deliberately playing with sin. Just like people in this present times. Lust is that sweetener that adds bad pleasure to the things we are doing. It is a slow killer, yet we perceive it not because it keeps us so focused to the present pleasure, blinding us from seeing the consequences of our actions in the future.
Delilah was the trap the philistines used in getting him, exactly the same way the devil uses our sins to get us. This trap is so cleverly constructed, it only takes a man with great spirit of discernment to detect it. The spirit of Delilah is every where, even in churches these days. This spirit that enters people, can do everything in church. From singing to fasting to praying, shouting, dancing, and speaking in serious hot tongues. It is a camouflage spirit. After all the devil has transformed himself to an angel of light. It looks so real to be fake, but the mission of this spirit is death. Remember James 1:12-15. This finally lead to death in every aspect of life.
Samson went to Delilah down in the
Valley of Sorek.
His first mistake was Disobedience. He was suppose to remain at the top. Every time he went down, he broke the laws given to Moses by God. Concerning marriages and his Nazarite vows. He went down to the main wine section. How do you expect not to commit sin when you are already inside the house of sin? I say this all the time ” If you do not want to eat the forbidden fruit; then stay away from the forbidden tree.”
Sorek is a place where grapes in large quantities were grown and later processed into wine. This implies; Samson actually went into the lions den. The same thing is happening in our generation now. People actually go down to the path of death, hoping grace may abound. Not So!!! There is always a price for our sin. ” sin has a pay day; believe me it is never a good pay day.”

Sorek and Delilah move and work hand in hand. Because you will only find Delilah in the valley of Sorek. That is the only place they can both cohabit. Where sin and lust, pleasure and untimely death can both coexist.
Facts about Delilah: (Sin).
We should have this in mind. Delilah in this passage refers to both men and women!!
– She hunts for the Precious Life. Pro 6:24-26.
– Her path and end is always bitter.
– She flatters with her lips.
– Leads to hell.
– Destroys people utterly.
– She lies.
– She is the spirit of the night.
– She is stubborn and persistent.
– She pulls down great people.
– She tempts and she seduces.
– She will force you to pour out all you heart and secrets to her.
– She will pamper your weakness and then strike you directly in the heart when you become vulnerable.
– She enters into agreement with men to commit sin.
– Doing evil for money.
– Deceptions and plotting the death of great men and women.
– Waring against God and seeking to overthrow the anointed of God.
– Delilah will make you have her trust and then betray you when you least expect it.
In all Delilah is a destiny terminator, and it comes in form of Sin and Pleasures. She’s the spirit of the witchcraft barbers, cryptic spirit. Not easily detected. She’s the spirit of Jezebel that makes men do evil without knowing what they are doing. But it has a destructive end. Full of regrets
The spirit of Delilah is an experimental sprit. Why? Because it tries all your weaknesses, sees all your defenses and see which strategy will work best. This spirit is a fighter and a hunter that never gives up. No matter how hard you pray or fast. They are always waiting for your unguided hour. This spirit looks for the people void of understanding, so called easy prey.
Noticed I said Delilah hunts for the precious soul at any price.
Each lord of the philistines (5 lords in total) paid Delilah 1,100 pieces of silver. That’s in this time, it is worth over 3,520$. Delilah easily agreed because her goal from day one was to make Samson useless.
Delilah had the persistent sprit. She was getting closer to Samson’s secrets.
The first two instances concerned the binding of his hands and feet. But the third instance, he mentioned his Hair. Judges 16:13.
She was still consistent. Just as the devil is today towards us. And the same way the power of sin is trying to overpower us.
Her continual urging to tell her the truth finally brought him to despair, instead of leaving her alone and run for his precious life. He brought down the people of God and let the philistines persecute him and God’s People.
That is what the devil does these days. Little by little we continue in our sins. Then we keep graduating in it. Of course nothing has happened. We feel relax and think it is normal. Suddenly when we least expect it; the troubles and issues of life arises. We are not trained nor equipped to handle it. We easily become a prey in the hands of the captors.
Sin will keep us longer than we want to stay and make us pay more than we ever bargained to pay. It will rob us off the precious things from God. The painful part in it is that; not us only but our loved ones and family will all pay the price and bear the shame with us.
Life is all about wisdom and instruction.
For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: (Proverbs 6:23 KJV)
The only way we can be free from this ragging spirit is to flee from sin and run fast to God. Time is not on our side, Destinies are been wasted by this sprit on daily bases. We will only conquer this spirit if we dwell in the secret place of the Most High. We must abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
We should avoid every thing that is antagonizing the Spirit of God in our lives.
It is so amazing to know that, no matter what we have done or what went wrong, God is still willing and ready to give us a second chance. Remember Isaiah 1:18. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord : though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
It doesn’t matter what you have done, there is still hope for you. All you need do, is to forsake your sins and make a U-Turn.
Isaiah 44:22. I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.
It is not going to be easy but ” His grace is very sufficient for you.”
~Watch the kind of circle you belong to and the kind of friends you keep.
Remember:Psalms 1:1.
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
When the circle you keep and the things you do pleases God. You are certain that you will have life in abundance.
God Has and He will forgive you all you think you have done. Only Return Back To Him.
Isaiah 43:25. I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
God bless.
